The first Match Play event of the season took place last week at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco with the world’s top 64 players competing for the WGC-Cadillac Match Play title.

Englishmen find form around Augusta at the Masters

In a record breaking week at the Masters, it was hard to look past Jordan Spieth but up the top with the young American, 3 Englishmen finished in the top six.

The obvious one being Justin Rose who put in a valiant performance on all four days, challenging the leader Spieth at all times. Paul Casey had very good and steady tournament and Ian Poulter finished tied sixth with Casey, after a flawless 10-under par weekend.

Brits fail to challenge the top players in Miami

In the first World Golf Championship of the year, Britain’s players did not fill us with hope for when they are put against the rest of the world in next year’s Olympic games.

With each of the world’s top 50 players in action at the Cadillac Championship, the best British players were tied 12th in Lee Westwood and, Race to Dubai leader, Danny Willett, which does not bode well for Rio next summer.

Casey falls short at the final hurdle

In a week that proved tough for British golfers in Delhi and California; Paul Casey came within touching distance of the trophy at Riviera.

The PGA Tour was played out at Riviera Country Club in California this week, the field consisted of only three British golfers, Casey was alongside Luke Donald and Brian Davis neither of which made it to the weekend. Casey carried the hopes of British golfers on his shoulders through the weekend.
